Richard Plante

Architect

An architect with more than 30 years of experience, Richard has built extensive expertise in technical consulting and forensic investigations related to existing buildings, with a particular focus on building safety, deterioration and construction technologies. He has also developed in-depth knowledge of building materials and systems, contributing to numerous technical publications and scientific articles. Throughout his career, he has led or collaborated on a wide range of building envelope rehabilitation and restoration projects.

Richard has long been committed to sharing his expertise through professional education. He regularly delivers training for the Ordre des architectes du Québec, Bâtiment durable Québec (BDQ) and other industry organizations. He also collaborates with the Department of Building Engineering at the Université de Sherbrooke and the Department of Wood and Forest Sciences at Université Laval, and is a frequent speaker at conferences and industry events.

In recent years, Richard has devoted much of his work to the development of the Auvergne Living Laboratory, an experimental research site dedicated to the study of building envelopes in the context of sustainable construction and energy efficiency. Through the design, construction and long-term monitoring of innovative building envelope assemblies, the project contributes to advancing knowledge and best practices in building science.
